Human-Wildlife conflict, hunting, wild fires, illegal tree cutting are some of the major issues that arises in the villages in the buffer area of the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve. For better conservation of the protected areas and wildlife and to mitigate the issues, it is necessary to involve communities and future generations in the practices of conservation. PEF has collaborated with Sahyadri Tiger Reserve for Conservation Education Programme since 2017. PEF has conducted around 50 awareness programs for schools, colleges and communities in the buffer area of Sahyadri Tiger Reserve in the last three years. The communities and students have developed a positive outlook towards environment and the forest department.
